Saddle Fitting

 

If you have any doubts regarding the fit of your saddle, see whether any of the following symptoms of a poor-fit apply to you:

 

Tail swishing or grumpiness when the saddle is put on or when grooming 

Bucking or tension when riding, especially through transitions

Difficulty in coming round or in engaging the hindquarters

Unwillingness to perform certain tasks

Bolting or pulling after landing from a fence

Exaggerated stiffness in one direction

Muscular atrophy

White hairs or scar tissue under the saddle

Difficulty in keeping legs in position

Tension or pain in back during and after riding

Feeling as though you are riding up or down hill

Lack of security over fences or during fast work
